Chris Olson became a quadriplegic on April 13, 2001, as a result of a drunk-driving crash. He was thrown from a vehicle driven by his fiancée's brother, and after being resuscitated he was airlifted to Sioux Falls where he remained for six weeks.
His fiancée, Tana Thompson, died at the scene.
On March 29, 2006, Faron DeMarrias was in a truck, driven by his brother, which rolled off the road. Farons brother was under the influence of alcohol. Faron was seriously injured, suffering major brain damage as a result.
