The large-scale battle won by Polish-Austrian-German forces lead by King of Poland Jan III Sobieski against the Ottoman Empire army commanded by Grand Vizier Merzifonlu Kara Mustafa Pasha, which took place on September 12, 1683 after Vienna had been besieged by Turks for two months. The battle broke the power of Ottoman Empire and had the most far-reaching consequences in the Great Turkish War.
@aporia82 Sorry what did your great allies, the Habsburgs, do during the partition ?

''The Ottoman Empire was the only country in the world that refused to accept the liquidation of the Republic of Poland as a result of partition and reserved a place in its diplomatic corps for an Ambassador of Lehistan (Poland)''.

@rosassin ... Huns and Onogur (Turk tribe also). Arpad was a Turk. 7 of the 9 magyar tribes are totally Turks. Despite religion difference Magyars are brothers to us! So it is obvious the origin of Hussars as a military unit and term. It is related to Khazars, another Turkish Empire. Do you consider why Attila and Huns, Avars, Hungarians, etc. settled to Pannonia. Pannonia the only place that is available to breed great quantity of horse! (Maximum 70.000 horses).

@rosassin Come on guys! Be serious! Ottoman Sultans always acted as protectorate Lord of Poland! Just took a regular annual tribute and protected her against Habsburg claims! So how could Poles defend their countries? Ottomans never tried to invade Poland? Also what Sultan! Sultan did not lead Second siege of Vienna! What are you talking about? Yes, you know a little bit history but I know very well. Also Hussar is a Turkish word! Don't tell me Hungarians! Hungarian name come from ...
