  • is this before the "one in the diner"? that's the one I saw first... I like both, but I like to know the "lineage" of the pieces I recommend to others... and if this is the first occurrence of the Great Work :P, I would like to make that known to others. The script is the important thing: that's the birth of this particular piece, and the imdb is less than clear. Whoever wrote this is a genius, and the actors, in this and in the other, are well aware of the "inhumanity" of their characters...

Thanks man! This was made way after. Adapeted for the Screen by Trevor Scott & Jeff Frumess Original Story by Terry Bisson and made with Terry's permission. The Imdb credits got messed up for this and instead are linked to the diner one from 2005.

  • One of my favorite stories, but I still prefer the version in the diner. I do like that this one's dialogue is almost unabridged (neither version's dialogue is exactly like the story), but the interactions with the humans in this version really conflict with my concept of the original story. The diner version hit the immaturity aspect much better, and left the aliens as more compassionate (as reflected in their words)

  • This is the post-singularity AI trying to figure out where it came from?

  • @jozefknaapen The "one in the diner" really is worse. It drops meaningful text and adds gratuitous stupidity.

  • @jozefknaapen what are you talkin bout?? the diner??

  • Haha this is great! The soundtrack and the lazer beam scene were kind of lack luster but the acting was top notch.

  • Ok, but I like the one in the diner much more.

  • Great story good video
