members of the university of chicago environmental concerns organization and greenpeace activists perform the lorax in front of johnson publishing company headquarters in chicago to protest president/ceo linda johnson rice, a member of the kimberly-clark board of directors. kimberly-clark are destroying old-growth in the boreal and temperate rainforests to make kleenex and toilet paper. rice's office refused to meet with us or even to look at our press materials.
Maybe that's just because it was a pro-life group. I'd be horrified too. The moral of the Lorax was "Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing's going to get better, it's not." These students obviously care, and have been receiving attention. I think Dr. Seuss would be proud to know that his legacy was being utilized in meaningful ways, provided that his lessons aren't twisted in a way that doesn't conform to the actual moral.

Dr. Seuss would be ashamed to know that his book was being misconstrued for other needs. Research his reaction on the pro-life group using his line "A person's a person no matter how small." for their needs. He was horrified.
