Marines protect Oakland Solidarity March in NYC

Last night around a thousand protesters turned up in New York to show solidarity with Occupy Oakland. At one point NYPD officers began arresting and violently beating the demonstrators, even after they were forced to the ground. Among those who stood up for the protesters was Sgt. Shamar Thomas and his fellow US Marines.

@ShawNEE216 "doing your job" is not an excuse. Just because you get paid for something, it does not make it right. If you go by that logic, a hitman is just "doing his job", or anyone in the mafia or gangs. Hurting people is hurting people, no matter the circumstance or moneys being exchanged for the services. And why should people not be able to congregate in their own communities and express their opions or outrage? Who's streets are these? The cops? The politicians? No, the people own them.

All of you, think of this, organize a national list of "Bad Cops" and post their names and addresses on YouTube and other wesites. Bad Cops List will allow everyone everywhere to know who to sue for damages, which Bad Cops to bring criminal charges against, which Bad Cops that certain groups may want to go to their homes and "Discuss" the issue with. Cops are VERY afraid of things like this. Who out there can organize the "National Bad Cops List" complete with video of their crimes?

@ShutterbugW wrong. a soldier cannot tell a cop to stand down and a cop cannot tell a soldier to stand down. cops control the streets and soldiers obey direct orders from the president. If martial law was imposed soldiers would then control the streets and cops would have to obey soldiers. But one thing is for sure. soldiers can kill cops.

@BMOREcomingup There was that ordered beating of The Hell's Angels ordered by Hubert Humphrey. That was just sick. And plenty of white hippies got a beating or 2 from the cops. I'd imagine white people in the Civil Rights Movement recieved some brutallity.
