Dan, ur a freaking moron. Being gay is something that is chosen in most cases, while, as someone wisely stated above u cannot "choose" to be a Jew of Color--u r simply born that way, there is nothing that we can do.

you can CHOOSE to NOT be gay, hell, you can even choose to be IN THE CLOSET. but when we walk into a shul, there is no closet to shield our physical features, there is NO where and NO way to hide. we are seen and there is nothing we can do. being gay, also, is a SEXUALITY

Actually, the Torah doesn't say homosexuality is forbidden. תועבה is usually translated as "abhorrent." And it mentions men only; guess they couldn't conceive (disapprove?) of lesbianism. The Torah also tells you how to treat your slaves and how many shekels an oxen is worth. So there's that.

Anyway, I think our topical diversion has run its course.

But guess what, Evil1. It was never my intention to play "Who's more oppressed?" Nobody wins. It just further divides us into "us" and "them." As for why you should care about the oppression of others? It's all connected. Go study your history. Gay folks are being treated to "separate but equal" and now, apartheid. There's a separate set of laws that just applies to us in the majority of the states.

You're right. It's not the same. Some "mainstream" American Jews look at Jews of Color and declare that they are not, can not be, part of the Jewish community. Gays never experience that. People of Color have to deal with complete strangers making assumptions about who they are and how they will act. Again, not Gay people. As for hiding? Gays are great at that! It's so cool that I can just sit there and watch my rights being voted away because, if you can't see us, we don't really matter. Right?
