The talk is about ' Masah On Socks/Kuffain' - in the light of the Quran & Sunnah
Mufti Waheedur Rahman talks about a very controversial and very important topic that many of us are unaware of and lack knowledge of. The speaker clearly conveys that masah/wiping cannot be performed on socks unless the socks are made of leather.
About the speaker:
Mufti Waheedur Rahman was born in Sylhet Bangladesh and came to the UK aged 11 and currently resides in Luton. He comes from a pious background where his grandfather taught Sahih Al Bukhari for over five decades. Mufti Waheedur Rahman has been studying the traditional Islamic sciences which he completed at Darul Uloom Bury, North England, studying the six-year Shari'a program followed by specialized training in answering legal questions (ifta'). He has gained authentic certifications (ijaza) in Arabic, Islamic jurisprudence, and hadith (Sihah Sitta). His teachers at Darul Uloom Bury includes Shaykh Yusuf Motala & Shaykh Abdur Raheem Limbada.
Otherwise, we'll just be hearing the same argument packaged, sold and resold to everyone. I repeat, THIS IS NOT THE AGREED OPINION OF ALL THE HANAFI SCHOLARS. And anyone who claims it is; is either mistaken or intentional in hiding the truth. And Allah (SWT) knows best.

I challenge these scholars to bring a unanimous agreement in only the Hanafi school regarding Masah on Jawrabain, let alone all the schools. From Imam Abu Hanifa right down to Imam Al Maydani. Clearly showing their total agreement on the properties of Jawrabain. They should do their own independent research within their school and not just blindly quote the arguments set by some of their senior scholars. If they do this, then the true opinion of the Ahnaaf will come to light.

Clear proofs from Hidaya, Quduri, Fathul Qadeer have been ommited. These are Classical Hanafi texts. These Shaykhs should decide whether they are arguing from the point of Hadeeth or Fiqh. E.g. He quotes Imam Nawawi as weakening the narration but refuses to mention that he permits Masah on even thin socks. And he's a Shafi', so why quote him as evidence. When it comes to masah on socks they jump from school to school clutching at any available straw. This is absurd.

This is just a repeat of what Mufti Taqi Usmani has issued in his book ' Fiqhi Maqalaat'. This argument has many flaws. The argument is solely based on refutation of certain ahadeeth that some people have used to prove masah on jawrabain. The claim of Ijma is also a gross error, since within the Hanafi Madhab there is a great disagreement. I am surprised that statements of great Hanafi scholars like Imam Ayni etc who have authenticated the above narrations has been brushed under the carpet.
