Unrelenting rains are causing havoc in various districts of Nepal. The seasonal monsoon has triggered heavy flooding and landslides.
Heavy rains have left thousands of people homeless in Nepal. Crops have been destroyed and transport and electricity supplies have been disrupted across the country.
Official reports say seven persons have died and hundreds of families have been displaced.
Flooding of the Kankai River has uprooted residents of almost 600 village development communities in the hard-hit eastern Jhapa district.
In the Kailali district of the Seti zone, about 2,000 houses have been submerged and 500 families have been taking shelter in community forests, schools and open areas.
Flooding of the Rapti River in Nepalganj has affected almost 800 houses, while 150 houses flooded out in the Sunsari district of Nepals Koshi zone.
Landslides have hampered transportation in various areas such as the Mechi highway in the eastern division of Nepal where traffic has come to a standstill.
The monsoon season continues through September,over huge sections of agricultural land in the mostly mountainous country.
