TEAR THE CURTAIN!

By Electric Company's Jonathon Young and Kevin Kerr
Created with Kim Collier
Early story development with David Hudgins
Director Kim Collier
Producers Nathan Medd, Bill Millerd, and Oliver Linsley

First Premiered September 9--October 10, 2010 | Stanley Industrial Alliance Stage, Vancouver

Produced by Arts Club Theatre Company in Association with Electric Company Theatre

With TEAR THE CURTAIN! Electric Company Theatre has created an original work of art that is a pure hybrid of theatre and feature film. On the surface, it is a stylish psychological thriller that transforms the venue into both cinema and playhouse circa 1930. But while the script celebrates the language and conventions of film noir, TEAR THE CURTAIN! upsets expectations for a traditional narrative. It's a play rich with ideas about our desires for presence and escape, expressed in a structure that is layered, dreamlike, open to multiple readings, and at times dangerously romantic.

Starring: Dawn Petten, Jonathon Young, Gerard Plunkett, Laura Mennell, Hiro Kanagawa, James Fagan Tait, Tom McBeath, Craig Erickson, Scott Bellis, and David Adams. Stage Manager Jan Hodgson, Assistant Stage Manager Jennifer Swan

  • This looks so amazing!

Are there plans for it to be preformed again? Maybe in Toronto or nearby? I'd love to be able to go see it.

  • It should just be put on video so that everyone can see the greatness that is jonathon young and the electric company.

  • Looks stunning. Such a shame that the smaller plays (which are often some of the best), stay local and are unable or simply don't tour internationally.

  • I live in England and this looks both unique and stunning! I sooo wish I could see it!! Congrats for the great reviews! :D

  • I'm in Malaysia.... will never see this :'(... But bravo on all the rave reviews!

  • Aw I wanted to go but I am in California :-(
