India is facing a growing gender imbalance -blamed on the widespread abortion of female foetuses. In some states, fewer than eight hundred girls are born for every thousand boys. Girls are seen as a financial burden, largely because of the dowries that have to be paid when they get married. Now the Indian government will start paying parents to help them bring up female babies. Al Jazeera's Matt McClure reports.

Proof that men are evil... they blame the WOMEN for giving them a female child when it's actually the MEN'S sperm that determines the gender of the offspring. They talk about how much better than women they think they are, then bitch and moan when there aren't enough women to marry. If they DO actually get married, they demand a fucking dowry. Can anyone explain to me why it's usually the female that is unwanted over the preferred male? Why are men considered better and please don't leave it at tradition - what is the REAL reason.

@littlepakistan Everyone would probably be better off if dowry were eliminated all together. What gets me is it has been illegal in India for years but people continue to do it ..... What's needed is for a few folks to be hauled off to prison right in front of all their neighbors. That might convince people they really can make do without a dowry.

Last I checked as of 20 and 21 century, India NEVER invaded foreign nations and cause war, support corrupt fascist dictator regimes around the world, cause Vietnam, Iraq and Afghan war.

Plus, Unlike you guys, Indians doesn't have 50% divorce rate, or an epidemic of teen pregnancy or sex and violence on TV.
