Rock on Bruce!

This guy is a master! But what tuning?

i just saw this guy live tonight at the Sage Gateshead in Newcastle,... he is ridiculously talented, playing banjo, guitar, fiddle and singing. really enjoyed the night and what is more... I have a one hour masterclass in Old Time fiddle to look forward to tomorrow morning with him!! :D

the sad thing is, the Banjo has an unfair reputation of being comical and silly. It's when you hear guys like Bruce Molsky and Greg Lizst playing that you realise just how wonderful it is.

I live not too far from where this was recorded.

i bet it's part of the guitar stand

To me, at the heart of it is the rhythmic character. The sound of nails falling in place on strings or head of the banjo accentuates. This is the key to approaching Clawhammer, especially if you hope to accompany a fiddler. You'll need to adapt to the demands of the tune being played and the capabilities of the fiddler. Often this means providing a rock-solid rhythm to support them and "playing where the fiddle doesn't.

It was made by Kevin Enoch of Greenbelt, MD. Fine banjo maker. One of the best. Outstanding Pearl engraving. Nice guy too.
has that guitar in the background got a 7th string peg?

I never noticed that before... I think maybe it's a capo.
