I gave John Yoo every opportunity I could to place a limit on presidential power. Can a president shoot missiles in the United States? Can a president drop nukes in the United States? Yoo refused to concede any limits. -- video by Shepherd Johnson

  • Q: Is there a law on the books that prevents the president of the United States from cutting John Yoo's balls off and shoving them down his throat?

JOHN YOO: I think you could make a strong argument that the president DOES have that power, IF .. the president thinks John Yoo is an asshole, AND .. if the president thinks it's in the best interests of the United States.

  • @Eastsideweezy I'll be honest, I don't think YouTube is a place to discuss economics. Not enough space here. I'm going to look into this though, I'm really intrigued. I'm not going to change my Liberal stance, but it's definitely something worth knowing.

  • @randyck Well pro business and pro free markets are not the same. In short business are opportunistic not capitalistic. Many business intrest are very happy with a complex tax code and regulation because it is a huge barrier for smaller firms. For example out of the top 50 companies in Sweeden all but one was created during the peroid of free markets and low taxes in that nation.

  • @Eastsideweezy What's the difference between freer markets and freer business practices, and are you sure that Harper doesn't endorse both?

  • @randyck Well I would say more market forces less government involvement and subsidizing of companies and government institutions. There is a big difference between business and market forces. I don't think Harper or the Liberals understand that most center and center right Canadians do know the difference and are pro market and not pro business.

  • @Eastsideweezy Interesting interesting...how does your conservatism differ from his?

  • @randyck Ha it was tongue in cheek but he isn't a big C conservative (he may be in private but does not govern as one). Lets see though He supports single payer health care, he supports the CMHC interfering in the housing sector. He supports bank bail outs, huge subsidies for university education, bail outs of GM and the autoworkers unions. A huge Keynesian stimulus program in 2008. His support for bank bail outs in Europe right now etc etc

  • @Eastsideweezy You're a capital C Conservative and you think Harper is a socialist? I'm intrigued. Can you explain how?

  • @randyck I agree. The laws of warfare are so black and white only in the minds of nutcases like this guy. I could think of all kinds of potential threats that could develop where a nuclear weapon could be used on an American City or Canadian City. Even though the left right political spectrum is not of much use I can say the far far right ( Alex Jones etc) are nuts. I think Harper is a Socialist so that must be saying a great deal.
