George Galloway on The Hour with George Stroumboulopoulos

A former factory worker, George Galloway was elected as a member of the Labour Party in 1987. It didn't take long before he was causing a stir. A vocal opponent of the '91 Gulf War and the economic sanctions against Iraq, critics said he was too cozy with Saddam Hussein. In 2003, he spoke out against the war in Iraq and blasted George Bush and Tony Blair for invading. The fact he went public with his criticism didn't go over well with Blair's Labour Party. Galloway was kicked out and ended up starting his own party, called 'RESPECT.' Most recently, he's taken heat over the Middle East. He's a critic of Israel and a supporter of the Palestinian cause. Earlier this month, he went to Gaza - he says to give donations to Palestinians, others say he was offering financial support to Hamas.

my Canada died the day that the CONservative gov't of Canada denied Gallaway's entry in to Canada - seems McCarthyism is a live and well in Canada - Harper will be remembered as a weak willed, small minded leader that pushed Canada down the road towards fascism - I didn't think I would ever live to see the day that the CONservatives would ban a duly elected parliamentarian of one our allies - so very, very sad

I like the irony of someone who opposed freedom by banning Gheert Wilders from England for his (absolutely non-racist) views, getting banned himself from Canada. He is so obviously a demagogue and has no problems with other demagogues Not, of course, that his views are all wrong. This interrview is packed with ironies since he lacks intellectual integrity and lives from having what he feels are the `correct´ emotions - whatever makes him feel good.

Okay Galloway you missed a couple of things:

1) Not a minority anymore, so you were wrong about a "majority of Canadians" (5:07)

2) Palestine was never a country, it was a political mandate. (8:07)

3) Canada is not a member of the UN Security Council (8:15)

Israel tried to keep with Oslo, the PA refused to keep their side of the agreement.Canada is well loved in the world. More so now, than under the Liberals.Your values are the same as when you were 18. You've learned nothing with age.
