Rebekah vs Isiah in the Matsu Judo tournament 1/24/2009. Isiah attempts to throw Rebekah with Osoto-gari, and Rebekah perfectly counters for an ippon. Great match between white belt Rebekah, and Orange belt Isiah.

  • @comface-looks like he got laid out...lol.

  • @Wiggalama Youre are correct in the fact that judo can be used for self defence, in which the only rule that matters is get out safe/sound. Whilst in the sport of judo, its important to show the restraint, sportsmanship, etc to follow the rules. Besides, the rules help us practice at full speed with no injuries.

  • @joeyoungttgu Thanks for the compliment. The kids are all still in judo. Rebekah went on to take 1st in her age division in the Alaska State judo tournament. ***proud daddy moment.*** Steven and Amy both took second, and Robyn did very well for being so new to the sport....

  • @shangss They are on mats made especially for judo. They are soft, but provide enough support for judo.

  • Thanks, I was proud of the efforts (and win) that my daughter did in this tournament. Its great fun watching them practice too

  • Good job girl! You made an old judoka smile :-)

  • damn this was good.

  • @barneycles Probably. This is kids so similar strengh.

  • just wondering, how come there're no mats?

  • @mosquitoavenger wish i had a father like you! cheers!

  • BS rules don't matter, ippons mean little compared to achieving the first ground dominance. Anyway, when you do an osoto gari, while he did attack the lead leg and did it fairly quick, he didn't pull to the opposite side or go for the hold in the back, and he didn't lean in, which the lack of a lean is the main reason why he was countered.
