i have a canon HX20 is, does it have a DOF? how can i use it?

DOF isn't a setting its a something that you have to consider when taking a shot. It has to do with focal range ect.

you can kiss good bye to compact pocket camera. they won't have any DOF. it's better to invest in a decent dslr and a lens with a good bokeh (out of focus). for example, nikon d90 with 50mm 1.8 or 85mm 1.8 could do the trick. why not d40? d40 has not internal focus motor; therefore, you have to focus your lens manually to take pictures. hope this helps.
