Truck 29 bridges the gap

On July 5th 2010 San Jose Fire Department responded to a 6 alarm fire that destroyed 19 classrooms and the library/media center at Trace Elementary School. In this clip we see Ladder Truck 29 crossing a bridge built by the USAR crew. Upon approaching the driveway the crew of Truck 29 realized they would not make it up the driveway without damaging the tank. Instead of risking damage the Truck called for assistance, and members of USAR 5 came to help, by using their cribbing and building this bridge to allow the Truck to get up the driveway without damage.

Cudos to the crew for realizing this would be a problem BEFORE they got themselves stuck or damaged the truck.

@bricktownfiredept In 2003 SJFD bought a demo unit from Ferrara to be a Reserve truck while they figured things out. It ran as the reserve until about 2008 when they came up with the plan... the used it to replace a Rescue rig at Station 16, and is now Truck 16. That is the rig you have seen in other videos (I think the Belgian firefighters tour group video). I know they have been talking about new trucks, but no-one knows when they can order them given budget issues here.
