Some footage from the 11/05/2006 Speedventures track day at Laguna Seca in my 2006 Mazda Miata MX-5. Ends when I try to trail brake too much into turn 2 hoping to catch a Lotus and spin. Best Lap Time: 147.002 (so close to a 1:46!!!)

  • You have a very beautiful driving technique my friend.

Please keep up the awesome work! Nice car also

Has this MX-5 been modified anymore since this video was made? care to share?

  • Thank you. Actually the car is my daily driver so it's not really modified and I still drive it every day. I still race cars but have not taken the Miata to a race track in some time.

  • Yeah!Clear lines!Is it a 1.8Lt or a 2.0Lt 'cause the 2.0Lt comes with LSD...at least here in Greece...245 tires?Isn't it tooooo much for a miata???

  • It's a two liter. In the US it's called the "Club Spec" model which means it comes with no options at all (no AC and sadly no LSD). The 245 tires are great for the track but I probably wouldn't recommend them for street use. You have to roll the rear inner fender lips up just slightly to avoid rubbing.

  • perfect line. what tire and clutch do you use? and do you have L.S.D?

  • Thanks. The car is a totally stock 2006 Mazda MX-5 with the Mazdaspeed suspension kit. I'm using 245/45-16 Toyo RA1 tires and some Raybestos racing brake pads also. Open differential - No LSD!

  • FR rules!

  • Even with the 6speed that I do have, I would be suprised if that was the best way to go? I never drove on the corkscrew before, though..

  • Yes, usually second gear since I have the 5 speed. If you have the six speed most people take it in third.

  • I gotta say, yeah, nice lines, bro. I've got an '06 MX5 for my daily/weekend driver. Just curious, what gear are you in for the corkscrew? (I would imagine 2nd?)

  • Unfortunately I can't go on the 20th due to work obligations... wish I could

  • Nice driving! And a really nice car. I whish I will lay my hands on one some day.

  • Great lines ... I was there that day with the S2k guys ... Are you going again on the 20th?

  • Nice drive, great video.
