Graet explanation. The best video ever. Can you do one with camera settings (I have D300 Nikon and also where to meter) when we focus on a landscape or portrait outside there will be shades and lights. Where do you focus to get the metering right.

You should mention that even if your zoom lens allows you to open aperture wider, sometimes you can not do that because you will end up with blurred background (you'll get a shallow depth of field) ;) but still it is one of the best tutorials on the net ;)
