(Via http://www.mediamatters.org ) In what was billed as a "Universal Nightmare" special edition of Hannity, Sean Hannity relied on distortions and falsehoods to raise the specter of "socialized medicine."
A child with cancer cannot get chemotherapy or radiation in an emergency room.
Where should a poor child with a chronic illness go to get treatment for cancer?
This isn't just about you. And this isn't just about me. There are millions of people out there with no options and the private insurers are not giving it away for free.
What's the problem with the DMV? I wait my turn and get my license. Easy.
I also have no problem with any of the following government programs:
The Post Office which delivers mail to the other side of the continent for 44 cents.
The Police. The Fire Department. Public schools (of which I am a proud graduate). FDIC. Roads. Bridges. Airports. Tunnels. Ports. All built and maintained as government programs.
You must love going to the DMV to pay for your car registration. You must love the social security plan that will be bankrupt in the next decade, and you also must love the medicaid that will be bankrupt in 2017. Those all are government ran programs that are failing and you think this is going to fix the problem. This will change the way you live. I don't think that people who support this are understanding that.
Those who don't have healthcare coverage just go to the emergency room. I don't have coverage because it's to expensive. But Obama's plan does not reduce cost, it just reduces the type of care and puts the government in chrarge of your life. The way you reduce cost is through tort reform. Stop the frivolous lawsuits, doctors can charge insurance only one time and not multiple times, and stop the fraud. That can all be done without uncle Sam embedding themselves in my life.
lol. They find a handful of people that had a bad experience with canadian healthcare. What about the millions of Americans having bad experiences with our healthcare?
Exactly! If we get universal healthcare, we might have to wait a little longer because more Americans will be in line for care and that's okay with me!
(Also, I don't accept the premise that waits would be longer, they are already unacceptably long with private care.)
For some, waiting is better than nothing at all.. Their not really giving the point of view of those who are sick but have no health care.. What about their suffering?
I like how they interviewed all those Canadian and British doctors to get a fair and balanced view on this subject.
