ostieguy: it was shot using a DSLR, the reason the focus drops off so quick is it was shot with a f/2.8 lens at that aperture, which gives it such an incredibly small depth of field.

They aren´t biters, your dogs obviously weren´t raised properly. I worked at the shelter for twelve year. Never had to put down a dachshund. No kid was ever killed by a dachshund. Can´t count the number of Staffords that killed kids or were put down at the shelter. Raise a dog, any dog, properly and you won´t have problems.

I work in a pet hotel (it's like a kennel, but nicer), and we get all breeds of dogs boarding with us, including dachshunds. The only "problem" I've ever had with a dachshund is one time when I was playing with a puppy, only a few months old, she jumped on my lap, got overexcited, and peed on me (she seemed very apologetic about it, lol) But I've never been bitten by one.

Do you set the camera to anything out of the ordinary ? How do you acheive that crisp focus (on Bentley) and have the backdrop completely out of focus ?
