'Sleeper' were a band from the portsmouth/Petersfield area in Hampshire UK. Playing clubs and pubs during the early 1980's. I wrote this track for 'Shakin' Stevens' but like my other effort for 'The Shadows (Shuttle - find it on YouTube) the response I got was a deafening silence. I actually quite like this one, recorded at Toucan Studios Hayling Island in 1981. I played my trusty Telecaster on this one with some harmony double tracking on the solos. My brother Ken on the drums, Dave Saunders on the bass and Charlie Keenan (a legend in his own lunchtime) on vocals. This track was played 'on air' by the now defunct Portsmouth radio station Radio Victory and was voted 'a hit' by listeners who phoned in to voice their opinion on a selection of new tracks.
Sorry about the video track being sooooooboring as I don't have any photos of 'Sleeper' except the one on the back of the EP cover shown above. The EP was made by the band to sell at gigs........I've got rather a lot left if anyone would like one! Hope you like this happy (sort of rockabilly) tune and if you're still out there Shakey I reckon you could do a smokin' version of 'I've Come Good'.
This is the drummer speaking !
Well why didn`t we turn professional? Oh, I remember, we all had apprenticeships and were told "Keep your proper job, go to college and get a career". If only we`d known we were all destined for economic slavery.
F--- it ! What a missed opportunity.
Still, we had some good times making this track as well as the "A" side, "Shuttle"

Well Ron we know the music industry is full of deaf ears and this hit proves it.
Along with "Shuttle" a lot of people were deprived of some good music.
I think this is great.
Perhaps Shaky should have sung it... Maybe he might have still been around!!
Great tune and a great group!
By the way put me down for an EP!
Best wishes,
Brian
