The 3/3 was flawless here. This was without a doubt the best performance of her career and she does havae some doozies.

@ferency98 they had to leave room just in case Irina skated better.

Goodness! What a work of art! Unquestionably the best performance of the night. How could the judges have given any 5.8's for Presentation? I was surprised they were not straight 5.9's or 5.9's peppered with 6.0's. There was no one who could have had a higher level presentation than Michelle.

It certainly doesn't get much better than this! Long live, Michelle!

so exciting to watch Michelle skate, she just keeps you glued.I watched all these performances growing up but it's fun to watch it again. So mesmerizing.I wish she would compete in the next winter Olympics and win gold.

I love Fleming and Button's commentary, they take you along through the journey like Kwan. But those other commentators?Nope. It's like long pauses and then and she lands a triple, aaaaannd a double.etc.

@allenglandlawns: You constantly say that Kwan had titles "handed to her," but you don't ever give examples. I've asked you many times and you never responded: What world champion (out of the 5) should she not have won???? IMO the only conceivable dispute could perhaps be with 1996 when a 15-year-old Kwan skated a perfect 7triple program along side a more mature Lu Chen 6triple program. But that's it. In 2000, 2001 and 2003, esp, Kwan EARNED that shit, there ain't no doubt.

Selfish? Selfish for Michelle to petition for a spot on to the USO team? She was the only one that made it possible for the U.S. to have three spots at worlds for nearly a decade. Whatever you think of her personally, you can't really argue that she didn't deserve to make her case. How many of the other U.S. women skaters placed in the top three consistently each year at worlds? I'm pretty sure that she wanted to compete just as much as the Figure Skating world needed her to!

@allenglandlawns I always read these posts carefully. I still think that your opinion ("wacko decisions") is a bit harsh. We really don't know what was going on with Kwan at the time with Frank...
The only bad part: THE ANNOUNCERS. They talk so much, and so loud, that you can barely appreciate the program!

@allenglandlawns BS! Who here stated that she should have received 6s for technical? She was the second to last skater and she didn't deserve 5.7s for that performance! There is no way that Irina deserved 5.9s for her sloppy and EMPTY performance. I agree with Peggy about her program and Kwan's. She beat Kwan's perfect performance in technical because she attempted more difficult 3/3s and botched them? Check out her first lutz as well. Irina was a sloppy mess.
