This is a video response to my own song "Here We Come A-Wassailing (The American Edition)." This was made to make up for the fact that the song brings up the subject of what a "wassail" is, but does not satisfactorily explain it. Hopefully, this brief history of wassail will set your mind at ease. And if not, it's not my fault! Visit my website at http://stokesmusic.tripod.com

  • Wassail is derived from two Saxon words which mean "good health". Now days you would say, "to your health," as a toast before you all take a drink. Look it up on Wikipedia if you really want to know what it means. It does go back to a pagan Anglo-Saxon ritural that was done the night before the new year. It was the thing they did before there was a Christmas. It evolved when they became christians. It evolved again to be just a druken street party where everyone sang door to door.

  • No offense, but you're kind of a smart ass!

  • Funny.

  • LOL, What is WASSAIL???? Super!
