Roland SPD-S Sampling Pad Tutorial - Importing WAV files into the SPD-S
This video presumes you already have samples in the correct format (WAV) and a Compact Flash card already formatted for use with the SPD-S.
(Quality of the PC screen grabs at the start could be better, but you'll get the idea)

  • Thanks for the tutorial. After the samples are processed, can I delete the wav files off the SD card to save space? (i presume it will be stored as a SPD-S format)

  • @RoshanDrummer (Sorry I didn't reply - had hell and all trouble getting into my account) Yes you can bin them once imported.

  • Just to get things straight, could I hook up my acoustic triggers to a roland spd-s and the roland spd-s to an amplifier(Basically use it as a drum module)? Would it work? I just need to know because if I can I'm going to buy a spd-s...

  • @ToTheSkyLV Absolutely - do it all the time. Not sure what trigers you use, but if they are compatible ones then yes.

  • oz your a legend please help , a question about importing files. i have tried to import a sound file saved as a wave to my flashcard from my friends mac via logic which shows up no problem when i go through the process of importing it but when it "processes" it comes up "not supported" please help

  • Ok im having a bit of a problem here hope someoe can help me out, so i am trying to assing (2) 808 sounds onto my new SPDS pad, on of them is 2sec long and the other one is 4sec long. I have followed the steps 1 by 1 on this video but when it comes to the final part of assinging my pad instead of COMPLETE i get the word UNSUPPORTED....does anyone know how to fix this...i've got shows coming up in 2 days and i really REALLY need to get this pad going, id appreaciate some feed back, thanks.

  • @JBurnsred Im getting this too. Did you get this resolved and if so how?

  • Hey bro THANKS SO MUCH! I have been trying to figure this out forever. Great instruction. Easy to follow!!!

  • He man, I'm trying to import samples 1by1 from the flashcard to the SPD-S. It says: MEMORY FULL! What to do?

  • a la spd s le puede entrar virus ???

  • Hey mate, im having trouble with my roland spd-s... no card i try will work. The card is up to date to 1.2. I purchased a roland 512mb from USA but when i place this in the spd-s it just freezes. Any ideas?

  • how are you hooked up from your computer to the SPD-S ?

  • What if your flash card is higher than 512mb, does it still work? I put the card in, but it just says "No Card!" when I do "Shift + Setup"???

  • Hi ozthekeymaster, I'd like to ask you something. I own a Yamaha DTX Multi 12 and I'm kind of disappointed because it lets me storage just 23 seconds of WAV audio (44.100khz/16 bit). So my question is, with a flash card, how many WAV samples can you import to your Roland SPD-S and up to how long can they be?. I'd appreciate your answer.
