Don't watch this video if seeing a person totally loose control scares you. Even though it is a reconstructed seizure that is shown, it is rather lifelike. However, I believe that the more accustomed people are to seeing seizures the more of use they can be to the person's actually having the seizures, if they are one day witnessing one.

Please bear with the quality of this video, especially sound could improve. It is a no-budget video and my very first attempt to make a video ever. Hopefully, I'll learn along the road.

First aid:
- Stay calm. The seizure will usually burn out in few minutes.
- Secure the surroundings, the person and yourself. You can be of no help if you are being hit by a car while trying to help. Move dangerous objects. Free the airways by turning the person on the side and protect the head. Always avoid putting anything into the mouth of the person or to restrain him/her.
- Try to time the seizure or estimate it. It will tell you when to call an ambulance and can be of help to the professionals.
- Be reassuring to the person when s/he is coming to. Remember, it is a vulnerable phase, and the person might be really confused and have difficulties in understanding what is going on. Keep onlookers away if they can be of no help.
- Ask easy questions to assess the level of consciousness. With increased perception of reality answers will be more and more prompt and correct.
- Stay with the person or see to that somebody does. Take care of yourself afterwards. Talk the incident through with a friend or see your doctor if it has be shocking to you and you are feeling unwell.

  • im really confused.ive read that you should lay them on their side AFTER the seizure.many also says that you should try to repel their stiffness.like when they close their fists, try to open it.some even poke needles in their fingertips.i also saw others slapping the person hard ironically, the victim seemed to have restored his senses and slowly recovered becoz of that slap.does massaging helps to relax the victim?

  • @jonteves The reason why you put them on their side is to prevent choking. Therefore it's done as soon as possible. Could be after the seiz., could be during it. Don't ever use any kind of force. A seiz. runs its course in a few secs to a few mins. That's why it sometimes look like some kind of action actually helps. Well, it won't. The person is unconscious which means that outer stimuli doesn't reach the brain to be processed. They gradually regain consciousness, feeling safe makes most relax.
