We take a close look at what it takes to replace a cable box with new hardware, still enjoy the same TV shows, but not pay a monthly bill.

  • @networkterror - I have done that math, and I'm saving about $70 a month. I was going to have the projector, screen, and broadband regardless.

  • This works for American residents and American Residents only.. Hulu will not allow non-US IP's to watch their content.. I'm pretty sure they don't plan on stretching out to other countries (even though the website says they are..).

  • with the combined prices of your computer, projector, projection screen, the remote, online services and internet connection, the ir receiver and anything else you used, probably would have saved yourself alot by sticking with your original cable subscription.

    hardly tv of the future.

  • So I guess download the shows from demonoid?

  • @8WingedAngel

He's not though is he? Isn't the fact he is -no longer- paying 70 bucks for cable the whole point? You are the dumbass for still paying 30 bucks a month, LOL

  • @8WingedAngel You are so wrong. If you bothered to even see the shows in that spread sheet you can tell he doesn't have basic cable which is what you are tlaking about, also british shows come on only one channel in america BBC america and you don't get that on basic tv. So no, he's fine, my cable bill for 70 channels + dvr + hd + 15 digital channels is 80.00 a month. I almost have my customer pc created for this, so no.. you try again. Dip shit.

  • Why were you spending seventy a month for cable? I pay thirty for cable and I still have cool channels. You're still paying too much. Try again.

  • lol.. mac mini is the worse solution for a HTPC.. doesnt even support bluray.

  • Your setup is way more elegant than mine. I'll have to look into some of your methods. Thanks!
