Photographer Penny De Los Santos takes us from a candlelit dinner table in war torn Lebanon to the grave of a loved one, asking us to stop, connect deeply and take the time to strengthen and honor the bonds between us.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

Thank you for sharing the stories behind the images. As a food photo hobbyist who studied the culture and sociology of food I am always searching for more inspiration on the human side of food images. Any chance you will be doing more workshops in the future?

Penny I am so inspired by you. I am a photographer...and you remind me that I don't have to go far to get great shots... they are all around me.
I"m so sorry about your mom. I cried, as I remembered how it was when my mom passed, 23 years ago. God Bless and thanks for your wonderful stories.

Penny, you are a natural storyteller. I could tell you were nervous; however, that only made the experiences more feel more genuine since it conveyed that they were coming from your heart. Your delivery is engaging, and your stories raise everyday occurrences to a level that is universal. I'll bet if you were a "car photographer" or a "sports photographer" you'd find equally poignant moments that betray the humanity we all share. Keep up the fine work.
