TEDxAustin - Penny De Los Santos

Photographer Penny De Los Santos takes us from a candlelit dinner table in war torn Lebanon to the grave of a loved one, asking us to stop, connect deeply and take the time to strengthen and honor the bonds between us.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. Penny, you are a natural storyteller. I could tell you were nervous; however, that only made the experiences more feel more genuine since it conveyed that they were coming from your heart. Your delivery is engaging, and your stories raise everyday occurrences to a level that is universal. I'll bet if you were a "car photographer" or a "sports photographer" you'd find equally poignant moments that betray the humanity we all share. Keep up the fine work.
