ie: paul watkins, danny decarlo, kasabian, juan flynn, van houten, krenwinkle, tex watson and others. manson is probably the only one who really knows what his motive was, but he definitely had the family believing it was helter skelter.

@Andreas748 well i agree to a point with your theory. they did want to get beausoleil out of jail, but, even at the hinman murder, beausoleil made a 'pawprint' with his fist on the wall in blood to lead cops to think the black panthers were responsible for the crime. to me, that was to try to set off helter skelter, the racial war manson predicted.
other members of the family coroberrated atkins story of helter skelter.

@laceydays1 ....the motive was to do a copycat crime of the Hinman murder so the cops would think Bobby Beausilil wasn't the killer and release him. Also, Bugliosi got the Helter Skelter theory from Susan Atkins. Susan years later said freeing Bobby was the real motive. But Bugliosi was running short of time. The trial was soon to start and he had to find a way to tie Manson into the crimes. So he went with Helter Skelter, true motive not as important as nailing Manson.

@laceydays1 .....I don't think Bugliosi is a bad man. But to make a long story short....I don't believe Helter Skelter was the motive. For many reasons

@Andreas748 why do you call it nonsense? bugliosi didn't make this theory up! he got it from everyone he interviewed from the family, independant of one another. do you think they each made up the same story? i don't understand why people think bugliosi is unbelievable....i find him very credible.
