May I ask what size needles you are using? I like how the stitches aren't too tight.

@hereshopingforfame We are using US size 13 = 9mm and the bulky yarn is DROPS Eskimo.

Odd or even number of stitchs to start pattern?

@JanREBEL Hi, you should have an even number of sts, both when working back and forth and when working in the round.
