I remember when this was a museum back in the 60's; I also volunteered there 15 years ago and met a lot of very sweet people, not all who congregate at the Carnegie are drug addicts, but the ones who are are very much people too.

Heroin addiction isn't as easy to kick as some would think who tell these people to get off drugs, in fact heroin is the 2nd hardest drug, the first being cigarettes

@BoomStickSgt I'm not in Canada, but I find the DTES interesting. Specifically, the issues with the mental health, and how many of these people were treated when Riverview started to close. It's said Riverview is supposed to be completely closed by 2012. Did they really just shove some of these mentally ill people into the worst neighborhood in BC? And if so, what were the basis of this decision? I haven't been able to find much, they did a great job of covering their tracks. Really a shame.

during the olimpics in 2010 the homles were fed and cept in an aria were you couldnt take pictures. there were sighns with a camra with a croos through it. thats weird if you ask me. the citie tried to hide the problem in a corner of the city were turists wont likly be. and the protest aries were far from the venues so no one would see them protest. look at china. there olimics they protested and the media said they were mad cause they coulodent get tikets. yah right! fuck the corperate world.
