Never Ever Chapter 18

Ashley's P.O.V.

"Thats Miss Edna, our maid. But really shes like our grandmother. When she was in her thirties she became my nana, and 20 years before she helped to care for my mother, even though she was a little over ten years old." I looked at the kitchen where Miss Edna had gone through and decided she was my favorite. Didnt take shit from anyone and probably had a lot of wisdom on how to survive through this family.

"I have to go to the bathroom." I muttered before entering the kitchen. No one noticed. Miss Edna was in there muttering something about, "rowdy boys" and scraping pancake bits into the garbage disposal. I noticed another woman there, who looked about 50. She wore a Kiss the cook apron and a chefs hat. So there was a chef too? Wow. The chef either didnt notice me or didnt care because in seconds she was gone.

"Miss Edna?" I said, placing my plate beside the sink.

She looked up briefly and put the plate in the sink. She then started studying me for a little, and then our eyes met. Hers were tired and gray and yet quite inviting. "Nicks girlfriend." I blushed. Oh no, I was turning into Nick. "No no no. Nick and I are justacquaintances." Miss Edna reached for my plate but I took it away and cleared it myself. She stared at me. "But you like Nick."

No, not at all. I meanhes nice and all but hes taken.

Miley?

You got it.

She smiled and shook her head. Some of her teeth were missing.

"No. Miley and Nick arent meant to be. They think they arebut no. You and him however" "Miss Edna-" "Call me Nana. Everyone calls me Nana except for Danielle and Kevin. They think theyre too old. But Nana is older then both of them combined."

She took my face in her hands. They were cold and wrinkled with age.

"Nick is a nice boy. Hes just so bad with the ladies. He picks them up and dumps them at the drop of a hat. But hes a nice boy. Youre a nice girl."

"You dont even know me."

"Yes, but I know you are. You dont like new clothes, yes?" I shook my head and gave her a weak smile. "And you dont like toddler styled room, yes?" Again I nodded my head and she smiled again. "And you dont like Jonas family, yes?" This time I hesitated. After a few moments she nodded my head for me. " I know all this because you are easy to read. Nana has met many and read many. Now trust me when I tell you Nick will find that he loves you, and you will find that you love him."

I shook my head.
