Why does it matter if the phone is on whist charging? If you don't want to be disturbed just put it into offline mode.

Just tested - mine does this too when plugged in (and only when plugged in). Think it's a new issue though as I've been using the phone for weeks and have only noticed this after the firmware update installed today.
