The government of Iceland has forgiven the mortgage debt for much of its population. This nation chose a very different way of stopping the crisis from the rest of European countries. It decided to hear the requests of the population and to put politicians and bankers on the bench of the accused three years after their financial excesses would sank one of the most prosperous economies in 2008. teleSUR

In China they have a great way to deal with corrupt, greedy bankers and financiers. It's called a firing squad.

This is true... All the homes that are already built have already been paid for. The construction workers, architects, contractors and materials only need to be paid for once. Why pay for a house 4-5 times over before you can call it your own? Why is mortgage in old French translated literally as Death Pledge? Get it Mortician, MORTgage... its all there in front of our eyes lets just GRAB IT... GOOD JOB ICELAND. This prolly gives bankers cold sweats at night. oh no i'm going to have to work!!

This would never happen in the US. They would rather have people thrown out onto the streets or abandon their homes than forgive a mortgage.

America seriously needs to make people afraid to become politicians. We need to execute many of them. I can think of some that should be dragged out of office, into the street and beaten. Obama is one of them. He wants to eliminate the wealthy. But wants to stay rich himself. You can't tell me it isn't because of a socialist agenda to eliminate our flag in favor of an overseas battle that hasn't been revealed by him. He's an enemy of America. Treat him like one.

Don't be sad. You have a former prime minister in trial, and some bank executives; Even if they are not punished like they should, it's already a fantastic achievement. It didn't happen anywhere else ! To write a new constituttion, nationalize banks is also wondeful. Don't lose faith. Sure, the everyday life is probably still harsh, but you will see the positive results in a few years. Your country is a model, a laboratory, and the rest of us is willing to know how it works.

So they will be free to buy another apartment or house and rent a previous one

    - the one that government give them as a present.

Or more probably, they will buy mew luxury Cars or two and went to nice vacations with extra money they have every month.
