First Signals on the workbench from "A Progressive Communications Receiver" Nov. '81 QST designed by Wes Hayward W7ZOI and John Lawson K5IRK.

17 years after my first and unsuccessful attempt at this multiband RX, things are looking good the second time around thanks to some help from both the original designers.

The basic RX is 80m single conversion. Another mixer, converter oscillators, and band filters are then added in the dual conversion fashion for covering the other bands.

  • I'm also working on one of these. I've got the HyCas I/F amp and two crystal filters (SSB/CW). Be very interested in keeping track of your progress, and see how our versions compare. Nice job! and best 73.

  • I have one ot these. Great radio. I have the KVG CW filter. I waited until New Years when Inrad has it's annual sale and bought an SSB filter :). I also bought the bfo crystals. Although not completely necessary, they simplify things a little.

    I also built up the inrad experimenters cw filter and optimized for 50 ohms.

    Keep up the good work. It's more than worth it. The radio really sounds great.
