  • Wanted to just add here, it's not a sample from a video game, it's definitely notes I played, and sound choices specifically meant to I guess, emulate that sort of feeling. Nobuo Uematsu is a hero for sure.

  • @CyclingTrivialities They are close, but there are only a finite number of chromatics and arpeggios which exist in the diatonic scale and they will be (at times, redundanly) employed in music until there is no more music. When you consider the positive listener response to chromatic scales and arpeggios like the "Jenova Riff", it's easy to see why this particular melody could be employed more than once and be so quickly recognizable.
