Here's a Traveling Wilburys Guitar for you to check out. It's essentially a Danelectro that Gretsch put out in the early 90's primarily for the band to sell at shows along with T-shirts and programs and such. The tune I'm sort of playing throughout is Handle With Care by the Traveling Wilburys which I played along with a few times before shooting the vid to kind of learn it (to pay respects as it were to this incredible group). I point out features and flaws/shortcomings and at the end after I was really done (with the take...I usually do 2 takes and choose...more if I KNOW that they suck...) I kept on playing and that was good because the D string popped out of the nut slot (so you could witness one of the shortcomings of these in action). I still think that these are really cool guitars and the grounding issue and even the string popping out issue can be easily fixed. I said in the video that the nut needed to be filed a little deeper, but I really wouldn't do that first...locking machine heads or a string retainer (string tree for at least the G & D strings or a bar across all the strings...which pretty much every other Danelectro and Traveling Wilburys guitar I've seen has). There are no effects used here...I'm plugged straight into the amp and any sound or tone changes are either from playing dynamics or the volume and tone (and phase switch) controls on the guitar...or maybe from me blocking the speakers by standing in front of the camera (and the built in mic). What you see is what you get. If I forgot anything, just ask...

Merry Christmas and a Happy, Joyful, Peaceful, Prosperous New Year to all! Happy Hanukah to my own family and friends and Happy "whatever holiday it is you might celebrate" to anyone or anything I missed. I am thankful I run my own business and can say what I want to say...what I am led by the Holy Spirit who lives in me to say...we should all be able to celebrate our diversity yet also celebrate and understand what the true meaning of Christmas is...the miraculous birth of Jesus Christ...our (anyone who chooses to believe...John 3:16) Savior.

Thanks for watching and feel free to rate it and leave comments!

  • @leconciergeus What's your problem? I use these videos in my eBay listings to disclose the condition of the guitars I'm selling. I go way beyond what most sellers do so that when you buy a guitar from me you know exactly what you are getting (no surprises). What exactly were you expecting in a video marked as a demo? This is a review (of this particular instrument) that will serve anyone interested in one of these kind of like a written review @ Harmony Central except you can see and hear this.

  • @inmate1577 I was showing the guitar and not my playing abilities...thanks anyways!

  • ax got cara

  • "Traveling Wheelberries" :)

  • I have one of these guitars with all five signature. All have entire music and release memorabilia. I also have a great cd entitled "Live in Japan" Does any one know the history of the production. To my knowledge they never performed there are anywhere in fact.

  • What a surprise when you started rocking out at the end - wish you had stayed with the Wilburys' theme

  • @greengtrs Thanks for posting this for me. Not in my budget right now, but maybe you'll have some more goodies. I would like a guitarlin, Orville LP or 335, but I am headed on a long overdue vacation right smack in the middle of storm repairs and remodeling on the house. I will be at the Palisades bluegrass and roots music fest. Junior Brown is headlining Saturday. Splitlip Rayfield plays Friday, and Sunday I may go or may not. Dave Lindley is also playing Saturday. He plays a Burgin guitar.

  • Sounds like maybe it is a splitter. Neat sound. I am restoring my modified 1967 Melodymaker which has Di Marzios. PAF bridge, tapped SS 1 and a HS 3 in the neck. I do play a masonite plywood Electromatic Gretsch. It cuts though a mix for rhythm very nicely. The Melodymaker I pulled a real stupid stunt with. Custom $86 pickgaurd for a switch that won't fit. I am inlaying a strip in the 5 way slot, and adding series parallel split HBs, and tapped mid pup with several combos. Still pulling hair!

  • handle me with kerrrr!!!
