WEB is an almost completely selfbuilt velomobile. It's short for "Willem Eigen Bouw" which translates into "Willem's Home Built". Apart from some standard bicycle parts like spokes, rims, cables and tires, Willem made everything himself. From the negative mould up to the gripshift. The spray-paint was done by a professional. This is Willem his second selfbuilt velomobile. His first was made by using the mold of somebody else, which resulted in "Tweety 2". Although Willem made many happy miles in this vehicle, he knew that Tweety was more than a bit overweight with some 60 kilo's and a bit unstable because of a pretty high centre of gravity. WEB weighs 20 kilo less and the hull is much more sofisticated. See for yourself....
Other specs:
two 20" wheels in front, one 26" driven wheel in the back. All wheels have a single sided fork and suspension. 7 speed derailleur. Luggage space, wooden seat, tiller steer with cardan. Building time was two years. Yes, Willem has a job and a lovely wife.
In fact the whole framework strongly resembles that of the Quest. The body of polyester is unique, just like Willem intended it.
This video was made when the Huneliggers Recumbent Club visited Willem and Akkie to admire the fruits of Willem's labour.
Velomobiel should offer him employment! Wonderful job!
