Tehran received Metropolis Award 2011 for efficient public transport services

The 10th Congress of Metropolis in Brazil has placed the Iranian capital city alongside such major cities as Melbourne and Montreal. Tehran Municipality received the Metropolis Award for improving the city's living standards through efficient public transport services.

Every three years, some 160 cities compete for the top urban management award. Those selected this time are Tehran, Melbourne, Montreal, Seoul, Taipei, Mexico City and Rio de Janeiro.

Last year, the Iranian capital was also named the third best city in the world at the Sustainable Transport Award ceremony in Washington.
