the sound almost gave me a seizure. couldn't watch.

I agree with Nevelstraun. They both had the potential to become the greatest skaters in their time, but their inconsistency always destroyed that.
Well Sasha still has a shot now that she has accepted the invitation to Skate America :)
Like I believe Dick Button once said-
"There's no greater burden than having potential." Kulik and Cohen both had their share of that burden.

Sasha could command the ice like no one else, but her technical ability, jump wise, was not up to par. Her lutz was inconsistent and most often a flutz, and in the later years her flip technique devolved (watch her 2002 Olympic SP to see a great flip by her). She had awesome spins and moves in the field.

And I wish the commentary was in English.

It's too bad his jumps weren't so good this time... and it really was a great performance- passionate and able to maintain your interest.
It's amusing how people talk about him like he was some great failure. He won an Olympic gold! He bagged Ekaterina Gordeeva. What more can you ask for?

He's brilliant when he's on. I'd also go so far as to say that no other male figure skater before or after has achieved this sort of artistry. His inconsistency reminds me of Sasha Cohen. I think that they were both light yeards ahead of everyone else, both with technical capacity and artistry. Put them together as a pair, they'ed kick ass probably. less jumps more time on the ice, instead of in the air.
