Which was giving to him as a suprise birthday present by his frist renowned student to study under him. Gerrit Dou .
Also known as, Gerard Douw, Gerard Dow.
Some say this an an Old Leiden painting of Gerrit Dou's Mother.

In looking at the backside of your painting of the wood panel it does look to be rather old. It also has an artist like Albrecht Durer's way of marking and signing their works of art with hot melted wax or a harder substances that they used to implant their signature rings into or marking stamps to identify their works of art. That Could be Albrecht Durer's mother, who would known for sure, unless there was other pictures of her.

This is a very interesting painting. Looks like it could be of the17th century, around the same time period as Rembrandt painting of the eyeglass seller, or maybe before in the late 15th century. It looks she is with eye spectacles on her nose in this work of art. I do have a painting of Rembrandt's good friend Doctor van Loon with his own reading glasses sitting up on his forehead. In any case, the painting of the eyeglass seller by Rembrandt, you can see many pairs of glasses in that work.
