  • In my mind there are two kinds of masculinity: aggressive/destructive (deviation) and dynamic/creative (true essence). You express the latter, with grace.

So many male belly dancers are quite feminine; either their moves or their bodies, as if somehow forgetting their masculinity. You, though, are all toned muscle and your moves soft and flowy, true to the artform, while still grounded and powerful.

You are not a man doing female bellydancing. You are a man doing male bellydancing, good!

  • @jennytakala Thanks, I'm glad you appreciate my style. ;o)

  • Here in the United States, when somebody mentions belly dancer, what comes immediately to mind is a woman.

  • Yes, amongst those who are not studying the dance or performing it, that is usually true. The fact that men have long been doing this dance socially in the East was not something commonly known here, or popularized in Hollywood movies, and men were not known to be dancing so much in cabaret settings, etc. Now there are many male "bellydancers" in the U.S. and around the world and the ideas are changing.

  • I was looking to see if there was George Abdo music on here. What a wonderful surprise - so strong and graceful.

  • Ah, thanks, I've been a fan of Abdo since childhood! I'm so glad we have his music available as his vocals are powerfully inspiring.

  • Wow! He's awesome! And and a hottie :)

  • he looks like Orlando Bloom :D

  • Oops...I meant the foot slide thing at about :48. Always a crowd pleaser.

  • Very, very unique! I love your combination of bellydancing as well as Indian dance. It is very graceful and absolutely amazing to watch. You are brilliant!

  • I love it! I have sent this to a few of my male friends who want to learn too!

  • I looooooooooove the sneaky feet thing! That's one of my favorite things in belly dance. I'm only one of like 3 male dancers I have met in person (unless you count Jim Boz...okay, 4 male dancers) and so get my inspiration from these videos. Thanks for posting them!

  • Awesome!

  • @Alusnovalotus - It is listed with the description of the video above: "Ruh Tum Bi Salaama" by George Abdo.
