Schumann at his most wistful. These pieces work perfectly; their utter sincerity without pretension (yet with both an idealism and dreamlike quality that moves them far beyond merely charming) makes them some of the most exquisite music ever composed, played here absolutely beautifully.
No wonder Schumann is considered the first Impressionist -- he was Debussy's favorite composer!

...I love the playing from Richter since I got my first cd with him, and this recording was on that very first cd...
Now, 12 years later, maybe because of his art to communicate, maybe because of me, I´m caching me with the same feelings as those before 12 years. I think, I have now a new perspective on the words "eternity" and "immortality".
And thank YOU truecrypt, because without your work on youtube my life would be with a little bit less inspiration, fantasy and dream.

This complete set of pieces are one of the most beautiful, romantic and melancholic Schumman's masterworks. Richter pulls out our imagination very easly and take it to the forest through his superb interpretation; he makes us to connect to nature, to Shumann's conception about it and to both souls: Richter's and Schumann's.
I remember when my father used to cry with the Commiato... he new about it...

Farewell is such a captivating piece . . very intiricate and gentle note crossings, and Richter's subtle rubato and tone coloring is untouchable . . and the way he makes the music "die out" slowly towards the end gives me that "withdrawal" feel . . Magic !!
