  • Will those of you who believe that old soldiers fade away please try fitting into your uniform!

  • @Alikah1 I retired from the army in 1977, I tried on my old uniform awile ago and it was way to large I've lost 35 pounds since I retired. I'm fading away.

  • Aside from being absolutely out of touch with history or reality - you don't know squat about the song either. The poem was written in the 1930's on behalf of ordinary soldiers of the line - not moneyed officers like McArthur.

    British soldiers at that.

  • @Eideard The only remark about history that was made was that

Vaughns recording was made after McArthur made his farewell speech

to congress and inspired this recording. When the song was written or by who

or about who maybe history but not the history of this recording.

  • truman was afraid of mcauther he didnt understand mcauther and what he was tryin to do,,,IF truman had let mcauther finish his job and clean up the communest I believe there wouldnt have been a vietnam,,mcauther didnt finish what he started,,,because truman fired him,,mcauther would have cleaned it up,,,I wish douglas mcather could have made it AS PRESIDENT HE WOULD HAVE MADE A GOOD ONE,,,

  • Since it didn't happen, we have no idea what would have happened if he had his way in Korea or ever became President. It could have been like you think, but then again he could have ended up blowing the world up. But Truman was right on one thing, you can have only one person as Commander In Chief. If you agree with him or not he is the one in charge. Mcauther never under stood this.

  • @Alikah1 Whereas I consider myself lucky to fit into last month's purchase. I really must consider saying "no" the second time the potatoes are passed around!

  • Washington and Grant and Lee were all tried and true Eisenhower, Bradley and MacArthur too They will live forevermore till the world is done with war. Then they will close that final door, fading away Old soldiers never die Never die, never die Old soldiers never die They just fade away [Fades] Fade away Fade away Fade away Fade away
  • Young soldiers shine their shoes three times a day

Young soldiers go on leave, they know the way

Young soldiers say goodbye, kiss the girls and make them cry

Then the girls all wonder why they fade away

    Old soldiers never die

    Never die, never die

    Old soldiers never die

    They just fade away

  • Privates, they love their beer three times a day

Corporals, they love their stripes, and that ain't hay

Sergeants put you through the mill

They just drill and drill and drill,

And they will drill until they fade away

    Old soldiers never die

    Never die, never die

    Old soldiers never die

    They just fade away

  • Old soldiers never die,

    They just fade away

There is an old mess hall not far away

Where we get pork and beans three times a day

Ham and eggs we never see, even when we're on KP

And we are gradually fading away

    Old soldiers never die

    Never die, never die

    Old soldiers never die

    They just fade away

  • Regardless has history remembers it...it is part of my personal history. My sister's boyfriend gave her a 45 rpm album of Vaughn Monroe and I played it more than she did. Both of them are gone now, I was only 11 in 1951 and his voice made me almost want to cry. thank you a million tears

  • Some of the most stupid comments I've ever seen are posted here.

  • Rest in Peace Richard Winters. You were and still are a true American history
