@ishouldplayzelda good idea. I'm glad to hear you are being cautious the thought of one of those flanges going flying is pretty freaky. I'd find a way to test the welds individually too. maybe put the thin in a vise and tap the flanges with a hammer gently at first then a little harder (obviously you don't want to hit really hard as that would destroy it for sure and not reveal weak welds)
@Ianflaer since you advised against shrapnel on a stick and the thought of that scared the crap out of me i made the welds twice as thick and i welded a ring around the top and the bottom of the flanges
@ishouldplayzelda cool can't wait to see. PM me when you get it posted or put it up as a video response to this so I don't miss it. hope you checked your welds good, wouldn't want one breaking on contact. not that I think they will break but if I were making it I'd be checking and double-triple checking like a paranoid OCD person
@Ianflaer the welds are slightly crappy so far (ran out of wire yesterday) but my theory is that if i have enough flanges then no matter the angle i swing it at it will always hit one on the point. i'm going for 6 flanges currently
@ishouldplayzelda yeah, we have a pretty strong signature if you know what to look for. . .
good luck welding together a mace, that should be a fun project, just be careful you get really good welds to you don't end up with shrapnel. that could ruin your day real fast.
@Ianflaer that's cool i wish i could go to practice but it's tough in the winter and paying for gas is a real burden. lol for some reason i feel proud that i could recognize your experience from something most people wouldn't notice.
@Ianflaer yeah that would be awful. btw i got the video up. check on my channel to see it

@ishouldplayzelda guilty as charged, and proud of it. I have done SCA heavy fighting off and on for about 20 years
