Do you play on an emulator ?

Cause when I play on my NES when you go through a door the guy flashes. It's maybe due to my version being a PAL one.

If flashing, what happens is that when uploading a video youtube uses a compression method which causes some effects are lost. The same thing happened to other videos uploaded, such as Ninja Gaiden and Castlevania. Being beaten, the character disappears.
