The Purdue Calumet University School of Management hosted a roundtable discussion entitled, "Corporate Governance: The How, When, and Why," on Tuesday, April 28, 2009. The panel of speakers included: Howard Cohen, Chancellor, Purdue University, Stacy Januszewski, Senior VP and Chief Risk Officer, Peoples Bank Corporate Center, Munster, Dan Komasinski, Senior Director Internal Control, White Lodging, Attorney Jill Ritchie, Manager Public Policy and Governmental Affairs, United States Steel Corporation, Gary Works

Recent turbulence in the corporate world has led many to question whether corporate governance exists and how to improve on existing polices. The discussion will focus on those issues at the macro and micro level of an organization, as well as the regulation and oversight by the SEC and other regulatory bodies. Additional topics will include the need to institute corporate governance policies in the not-for-profit and private sectors. The event was hosted by Professor Angela Crossin (Business Law) and Professor Michael Palanski (Ethical Leadership).
