The Journeymen in concert a month before they disbanned in the Spring of 1964. Dick Weissman carried on to play outstanding 5 string banjo. Scott McKenzie went on to world wide fame with "San Francisco" and John Phillips soon formed the great Mama's and Papa's. This video is dedicated to the memory of John Phillips, one of America's best song writers and arrangers.

  • So outstanding to see video of The Journeymen. These guys hands down had the best & most lively harmony of the folk boom of the early 1960's.

  • good harmony....John and Scott could sure sing

  • @Grisbi6 I lived in Mpls then. OH, for a Wayback machine.

  • oh my god i bet dick weissman got stuffed in so many lockers in school

  • Does this remind anybody else of A Mighty Wind?

  • Actually, Scott McKenzie took his stage name from John's daughter-his birth name is Phil Blondheim.

Looks like Weissman was an early Ode banjo fan.

scott mackenzie tenía un voz muy agradable; me gustó mucho.

  • YES IS THE GRAND SCOTT MACKENZIE YOUR BIG IT WAS SAN FRANCISCO (Be Sure to Wear Flowers in Your Hair)

  • Sounds like John Phillips has some 'splainin' to do about doing his daughter Mackenzie (possibly named after Scott?) for ten years.

  • You were forunate to be there, in my book! I'd love to know about their performance(s). What was your impression?
