My offroading buddies and I came upon an Isuzu Rodeo that had slid off the road into a canyon. In all it took three and a half hours to get them out.

  • How did the Isuzu get down there in the first place? How many vehicles were stuck beside the silver Rodeo? I keep seeing various Jeep, a truck, and a white compact SUV. As a future Rodeo owner and off-roader, I thank you for rescuing your fellow 4x4 men. It is obvious the Isuzu wasn't ready. It doesn't have winch, extra tires, and fuel. Without help, it could have been trouble.

  • @m1accorder The only one that was stuck was the Rodeo. The others just got sorta stuck at different times while trying to get them out.

  • Simple (For those of you who keep asking the obvious question. Either A) Suz decided to wheel and got stuck. Or B) Most obvious, was making a turn or just hit a slick patch, figured they were invincible with their 4x4 in such conditions and that proved to be their almost fatal error. Just lost control and slid off the road like any other human being most likely

    How big was the ditch?

Those boys were nice beyond human expectation. I would hesitate to put my vehicle in such danger. But I would stay and find a way and won't leave the people stranded. A super long winch line from a cherry picker may be the only thing that can pull that thing out without sending multiple vehicles down. Too risky for everyone. Why is that Rodeo down there in the first place is beyond me.

I don't think any one vehicle can tow that thing out by itself. Not without destroying the rodeo anyway because the terrain is neither simple or easy to reach. It would take some seriously long tow/winch line that most tow truck won't have.

I am not sure what I would do if I was the Jeep, truck, or that other vehicle toward the end. I don't know if I would risk my vehicle since I may not be able to get back up myself. But I won't leave a stranded motorist, off-road or not.

  • Good job guys. Remember what goes around comes around. I would have helped them anyway I could!

  • Kudos to you guys for helping out a stranded motorist. If they had been wheeling and got stuck instead of sliding off the road I think it would maybe be a different story. Good to see there are still people out there willing to help others, and beyond that not even want compensation. Great job on the recovery!

  • damn that must have sucked good thing the people driving were ok
