@RoberTastic Viscous whipping??? Come on man,first off once the driver hit the 3/4 he saw the time and knew if he pushed Varenne that he would break the world record. Secondly that was no whipping they were mild taps to the sulky and the horse. You wanna see real whipping then go to Aqueduct racetrack in NYC where horses come back butchered. There are several Jockey's at that track that need anger management therapy and I know several owners who keep away from those jocks. Regards to you!

chaque époque a ses champions et les comparer à ceux du passé n'a pas de sens. Varenne a été un immense champion! La chaire de poule à chacune de ses performances accompagné par les cris de joie des commentateurs sportifs de tous pays: Italie, France,USA, pays scandinaves. Varenne a été le meilleur à son époque. Le seul regret est la fin prématurée de sa carrière pour devenir étalon... En valait-il vraiment la peine?

good only on the 1 mile races like Mack Lobell would have even dream on keeping Varenne's back , 'cos Varenne would have easily combed and destroyed it by at least 200 or 300 m at finish line !!

Mack Lobell has even won a 50 % of all won by Varenne in his short career and with a demonstration of superiority and class never seen before both in Europe and in America and on all distances !!
