NEW YORK -- January 3, 2009 -- It started slowly but built up into a
massive protest - on a bitter cold January Saturday, thousands of New
Yorkers turned out to join the march against Israeli aggression in
Gaza. As news reports of Israeli ground forces entering the Gaza Strip
began rolling in, the peace protesters assembled in Times Square began
to march to the Israeli consulate on 42nd Street and 2nd Avenue. The
march was peaceful - and hopeful. The sheer scope of the action made
it very clear that there is a gigantic groundswell of opposition to
the massacre in Gaza.
